TotalEnergies Station To Pioneer The Recharging Of Electric Vehicles In Accra.
How to recharge on the other hand, has been one the most asked questions about electric cars. (How and where are we going to charge it if we get one?)
Well, if you also have been asking this same question, there is a bit of good news for you. The French oil group TotalEnergies recently inaugurated a charging station for electric vehicles at its Liberation Road service station in Accra, the capital of Ghana.
According to the General Manager of TotalEnergies Marketing in Ghana, Olufemi Babajide, the charging station installed has a capacity of 22 kilowatts, which will allow an electric vehicle to be fully charged in less than two hours.
As Ghana transition to green energy, this initiative will see to it that electric stations are extended to other major cities in the country which will help propel the country years ahead in achieving it’s goals towards acquiring clean energy and also support a new form of mobility.
Jean Philippe Torres, Senior Vice President of TotalEnergies Marketing and Services Africa, said in a speech; “Today, we are encouraging countries with a proactive approach to electric mobility, thanks to our extensive infrastructure network, and by relying on solid partnerships.
Currently, Accra, has one of highest ratings for air pollution in the country even though there are over a 1000 electric vehicles in Accra according to the Ghanaian Ministry of Energy.
So with this initiative, the country’s aim “to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 by reducing CO2 emissions” in Accra, could be obtained.
