Meta Connect 2022: Meta Shows As A Glimpse Of The Future.

Yesterday, Meta gave us an introduction to how social virtual reality is going to look like with the introduction of the new Meta Quest Pro, and hear me out LEGS! Yes, LEGS!! During the event, Mark Zuckerberg joined leaders from Reality Labs at Meta and a few special guests to the advancement they have made in making the metaverse a reality. The success they achieved with the previous generation Meta Quest 2 was emphasized.

Meta quest 2 aided in making virtual reality more social by showcasing fitness innovations, gaming, and work. But Meta’s vision goes further than that. Meta revealed the Meta Quest Pro, a high-end VR headset retailing at $1,499. The headset is aimed at making it possible for the physical and digital worlds to grow a step closer to each other. It also gave Meta the chance to flex the result of all the money it’s invested into Reality Labs. The new Meta Quest Pro will begin shipping on October 25. You can grab yours then.


As part of making the virtual reality society more realistic and fun, Meta unveiled a feature that the VR world was getting for the first time. Mate unveiled avatars with legs. The sensation of seeing one’s leg during a VR session is intended to make them enjoy activities like workouts or even hanging out with friends. “Seriously, legs are hard!” Zuckerberg said during the presentation.

Meta’s Partnering with Microsoft, YouTube, and NBC Universal 

Mark Zuckerberg was joined by Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, to announce that Users will also be able to use Microsoft web app versions of tools like Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook. She also said that Windows apps, like Teams integration and Xbox Cloud Gaming, will come to Quest. 


Meta also landed a partnership with NBC Universal on an annual basis to which the streaming app Peacock will be coming to Quest. IP like “The Office, Universal Monsters, DreamWorks, Blumhouse, and Halloween Horror Nights,” Meta will also develop some experience around them. 


Another point highlighted during the event was when it was announced that Meta is developing Meta Horizon Worlds on the web so that one can eventually pick up their phone or laptop and visit friends who are hanging out in VR, and vice versa. Meta announced its partnership with the YouTube VR team creating new social innovation where one will be able to watch a YouTube video together with friends they are hanging out with on Meta Horizon Home.

So here we are, the future, where one can hang out with friends and watch videos on YouTube, work on a spreadsheet and prepare for Halloween horror parties. All you have to do is spend $1,499 on a cool headset for all this fun while enjoying the comfort of your home.
