Samsung’s New Foldable Competition
The buzz around it died pretty much a month after it’s launch thus making Samsung’s dominion over the foldable phone market grow.
Fast forward to August this year, Xiaomi wowed us with it’s foldable, the “Xiaomi Mix Fold 2”. Most people were move to make bold statements like calling it; “The Samsung killer” after seeing it.
Of course, right from it’s unboxing experience, you can tell that Xiaomi has put a lot of effort in making it feel special compared to the “Samsung Z Fold 4”.
Your experience starts with opening up a premium box with an expensive feel. Right from that, you are introduced to a Xiaomi VIP Service card on top whilst with the Samsung, you only go straight forward to just the phone and cable.
You also get a proper hard case which not only protect your phone but also comes with a proper kick stand which helps you prop your phone up in any position you like. Take that Z fold.
You also receive a 67 watt charger, a cable, sim ejecter tool and a headphone jack adapter. But it doesn’t end there. As a matter of fact, it get even more interesting.
Looking at it, I am hit with the realization that not only is it thinner than the Z fold, it also looks more like a normal phone when folded up bcus of it new hinge, than the Z fold which looks like an old closed book.
It comes with a screen which has wider ratio than that of the Samsung’s, with a tighter hinge that protrude less and a decent screen to body ratio which come with a full size keyboard on the front screen that by the way isn’t offered on the Samsung.
All this makes the Samsung’s Z fold 4 looks a couple of generations older.
It’s performance leaves Samsung users a whole lot more to desire. It come with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip with a 12gb RAM which by the way Samsung also shares but got out performed when Mrwhosetheboss run some test on the performance.
Xiaomi also when on to create a decent software just for the Mix Fold 2 and by the way is a big step up. The software skin is called the MIUI Fold which makes using the phone more fun.
The battery also come with a fast charging capability where it chargers from 10 to 80% in 40 minutes compared to that of the Samsung which does it in 1 hour 30 minutes. All thanks to the 67 watt charger.
Selfie taken has become interesting due to that fact that you are allowed to take selfies with the 50MP rear main camera which shoots reliable pictures
The amazing form factor to me is how it cost 10% less (including shipping by the way) than the Samsung.
But not all the news are good though. I will be covering that in my next post. Be sure to catch that.
